BRICKS 54 is a mixed-use building based in a suburb of Berlin, Germany. The proposed
concept has a very simple rectangular form with a volumetry and roof shape that resembles to the local
street’s aesthetic. Due to the simple volume shape the brick and window play is highlighted through a
balanced placing of neutral colours and the vertical links between the windows creates a perspective
distortion that evidences the buildings height rather than the width. The ground floor is a commercial open
space with access from both the front and back of the building. The first floor is destinated for office spaces.
Due to the fast development of the suburb there is a big need for office and commercial spaces that can
create “life support” in all the areas of the city. The second floor and mansard is designated for collective
housing with a mix of apartments on each floor.
